CMYK vs. Pantone vs. RGB

RGB denotes Red/Green/Blue and is light-based and used for computer displays/monitors to create colours that are viewed on computer screens.  It is also used in some free online software applications.  However, RGB files must be converted to CMYK for label printing, and there is a noticeable colour shift, so we recommend using CMYK-based software to create files, such as Adobe Illustrator® for optimum colour accuracy.

CMYK is Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black for ink-based four-colour process printing.  All digital label printing is done using CMYK.

Pantone (Pantone Management System) is spot colours for precise, consistent branding colours, often used by ordering and/or mixing special inks.  PMS is most often used in Flexographic and Offset printing.
