Effective starting January 1, 2026, Canada’s FOP (Front-of-Package) labelling is a mandatory black-and-white magnifying glass symbol on food packages, indicating if a product is “High in” saturated fat, sugars, or sodium, designed as a quick visual cue to help consumers make healthier choices. (Certain foods are exempt, including plain fruits/vegetables, milk, eggs, and raw meats.)
The location of the FOP is to be prominently displayed on the upper half of the package’s principal display panel and is bilingual (EN/FR). Because every package and label is different in terms of size and shape, please refer to Health Canada’s website/resources for up-to-date FOP labelling information with regard to the proper placement of the FOP symbol on your labels. PRX Print does not approve artwork for FOP/Health Canada compliance nor take responsibility for compliance of FOP labelling. It is the client’s responsibility to submit accurate label art files and/or provide approval when proofs are sent by PRX Print prior to printing.
